Mumbai is home to one of the largest film industry in the world- Bollywood.
Even bigger than Hollywood in terms of the number of films produced per year ie. 900 movies per year not including the regional movies in this category, the Indian Film industry is probably the only one in the world to have been given the designated status of an “industry” Be a part of all the filmy action from India’s very own film city-Bollywood.
The silver screen action is a large part of Indian culture and the people take cinema very seriously. It would also be possible for you to take a tour through any of the Film Cities across India. Some of the most prominent ones being the Goregaon Film City in Mumbai and the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
On a good day, you’d be able to watch behind-the- camera scenes first hand at one of the many shoots taking place at the film city in Mumbai. Don’t lose out on the opportunity to get your very own fifteen minutes of fame and be face to face with India’s biggest stars while they strut their stuff between one bone chilling fight scene to the next hip thrusting dance sequence.
Bollywood is commonly referred to as Hindi cinema, even though Hindustani, might be more accurate.
Bollywood consists of the languages of Hindi, Urdu and English. There has been a growing presence of Indian English in dialogue and songs as well. It is not uncommon to see films that feature dialogue with English words and phrases, even whole sentences. There are a growing number of English films.
You’d also be taken to a number of theaters to watch some of Bollywood’s biggest hits at some of the biggest cinema halls like the Metro in Mumbai or the Raj Mandir of Jalpur.
